history

In 1956, the history of the Charmant Group began with the manufacture of small parts for eyeglass frames in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture, a production area of eyeglasses. After that, based on the industrial technology that Japan boasts, we continued to pursue free ideas that are not bound by preconceived notions and to improve the comfort of wearing.

 

In 1975, we established a sales company and started direct sales to eyeglass retailers nationwide.
At a time when sales through wholesalers were the mainstream, it was a breakthrough for the industry to go beyond the framework of production and start direct sales.

 

Having established a system of self-creating and self-selling, the Charmant Group began exporting in 1980 and established a local subsidiary in the United States in 1982. While maintaining the mother factory in Sabae, the production technology cultivated by the Charmant Group in Japan was also incorporated into China, and production began with Japanese quality.

 

Since then, we have continued our global activities, including the establishment of sales and production networks in the world market, marketing activities, and participation in exhibitions in various countries. We have grown into one of the world's leading comprehensive eyeglass frame companies that sells frames.

 

In 2009, we succeeded in technological development and commercialization of next-generation spectacle frame material "Excellence Titanium" that creates unprecedented comfort. This material was completed through eight years of joint research between Tohoku University, a world authority on metal research, and the Charmant Group. Until now, it was common sense to apply materials developed in various fields to eyeglasses, but developing materials to provide eyeglasses that are more comfortable to wear completely overturns the common sense of the industry. It was something.

 

In the same year, there was another big technological breakthrough. With the cooperation of the Fukui Industry Support Center, it was jointly developed over five years by Osaka University, a world authority on laser bonding technology, and the Charmant Group. junction).
By making full use of this technology and using Excellence Titanium, it has become possible to create eyeglass frames with unprecedented designs and soft comfort.
